Plug&Charge (PnC) is a vehicle charging technology defined in the V2G (ISO 15118) standard. It allows the vehicle and charger to verify one another’s identity for seamless charging and billing.
AutoCrypt® PnC protects both the EV and its supply equipment (EVSE) during the Plug&Charge process. It consists of a secure communication module and PKI-based certificate management for OEMs, charger manufacturers, charging point operators (CPO), and mobility operators (MO).
How It Works
Securing the V2G communication interface (ISO 15118) via encryption and PKI technologies
Using PKI technology in compliance with the ISO 15118 international standard for V2G communications, AutoCrypt PnC verifies the identities of both the vehicle and the charger, ensuring the safe exchange of information.
Supporting Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), AutoCrypt PnC verifies the contract between the charging station management system (CSMS) and the mobility operator before safely delivering power to the vehicle.

AutoCrypt® PnC for E-pit by Hyundai Motor Group
Launched in April 2021, E-pit is an EV charging network owned and operated by Hyundai Motor Group in South Korea. To integrate the Plug&Charge feature into its E-CSP (E-pit Charging Service Platform), the charge points needed a PKI-based security authentication system that complies with ISO-15118.
By adopting AutoCrypt PnC, E-pit was able to securely implement Plug&Charge to its charging infrastructure, allowing its customers to enjoy the convenience of seamless charging and payment.
